Shop Story

For babies, transitioning from a bottle to a cup is no easy task. That’s where sippy cups come in. They’re cups that are designed to help your little one learn the skills and coordination they need to eventually be able to drink out of a regular cup all by themselves. While they’re learning, there’s bound to be more than a few spills and messes along the way, and thankfully a sippy cup can help with all that. The simple but genius cups come with a cover to make sure liquids stay contained if dropped or knocked over. Many sippy cups also have handles that make them easier for little hands to grasp.

Types of  Sippy Cups

There are hundreds of sippy cups on the market, so it can be tricky to figure out which one is best for your toddler. First, you need to know about the types of sippy cups available.

Trainer Cups

These cups are suitable for infants as young as 4 months old and have two handles and a soft spout that mimics a bottle nipple. They also must be tilted back (like a bottle) in order for baby to be able to drink.

Straw Cups

These cups have their very own straw attached and do not have to be tilted; in fact, they should not be tilted in order for babies to drink out of them, which definitely requires a bit of time to get used to. It’s also important to note that these cups can sometimes be hard to clean, so make sure you take all the parts off when washing.

Spout Cups

These are more traditional sippy cups and have a hard spout that allows liquid to flow out, without spilling. The top screws or snaps on, and it’s a great cup for older toddlers.

Rimless or 360 Cups

Toddlers can drink anywhere on the rim of these cups. Just tilt and drink from the valve’s edge. These cups will automatically seal shut when your toddler stops drinking, meaning less mess.

Best Trainer Cups

Nuby No-Spill Super Spout

Price:$11.00

This cup features two handles and a soft, no-spill spout. When your toddler is drinking, the one piece Touch Flo valve opens so liquids pass through the spout only when sipped. The cup is BPA free and suitable for babies older than 4 months.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
These things are amazing. Our daughter won't let them go and chews on the spout constantly but it does not seem to affect the integrity of it at all. She's dropped them from her highchair at least 20 times already (on purpose) and there have been no breaks or spills. Easy for her to hold and drink from on her own.
