When is Prime Day 2020?

After pushing back the original July 15 date due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Amazon just announced that this year’s Amazon Prime Day will start on October 13 at 12 am PST and take place for two days, ending on October 14 at 11:59 pm PST. Shoppers will be able to score epic markdowns on thousands of products during the 48-hour event.

While Prime Day typically takes place in July, this year’s October date means you can get a head start on 2020 holiday shopping — which you should definitely be planning ahead for because shipping delays and sell-outs are more common this year than in year’s past.

What is Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is the retailer’s biggest selling day of the year because it’s when shoppers can get the best deals of the year across many different product categories. The shopping holiday began in 2015 to celebrate the mega platform’s 20th anniversary and has continued ever since, continuing to be a huge success every year. in 2019, Amazon sold 175 million items on Prime Day, breaking its own record and selling more than it did on Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 combined.

What can you expect from Prime Day?

Major deals, of course! Shoppers will be able to take advantage of discounts on clothes, toys, appliances, electronics, and so much more. Plus, Amazon just launched several new devices from its own lineup, so we can be sure to see prices slashed on Kindles, Fire tablets, Fire TV Sticks, Blink home security cameras, and all of the Amazon Echo devices, including the new ones for kids. On top of the Prime Day deals, Amazon will release Lightning Deals with shorter lifespans throughout the 48-hour event.

Do you need an Amazon Prime membership?

Yes! To take advantage of all the great discounts, free two-day shipping, Lightning Deals, and more, you will need to have a Prime Membership. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial and then pay $12.99 per month or $119 per year after that.

How can you find the best Prime Day deals?

If you bookmark the Amazon deal’s page, you will always have the most up-to-date discounts and markdowns. You can also sort this page by category if you’re looking for something specific, like toys to score for less ahead of the holiday rush or durable kids shoes to last through all your outdoor adventures this fall. As with any major sale, hot-ticket items will sell out quickly, so be sure to purchase something you want right away. You’ll find Lightning Deals on this page, too, and they never disappoint.
