Nintendo is Launching the New, More Affordable Nintendo Switch Lite this Fall
by Hilary Braaksma
Nintendo’s second incarnation of their handheld Switch gaming system will be hitting stores this September. Nintendo promises players a lighter, more portable console with a lower price point than the first Switch.
Though the new console doesn’t “switch” in the sense the original does—Switch Lite is handheld only—it still has a ton to offer gamers. The Nintendo Switch Lite comes in bright color options like yellow and turquoise, allows wireless and online play and is compatible with over 2,000 existing Switch games. The Nintendo Lite is priced $199, about $100 less than the original Nintendo Switch console retails at. The lower price point comes with less accessories and features—but what the Lite lacks in TV connectivity, table-top mode and Joy-Con controllers it makes up for in its compact and portable design.
The Nintendo Switch Lite isn’t available for pre-order quite yet, but you can still check out the specs on Nintendo’s website. In celebration of the upcoming console release, here are some of our favorite Nintendo Switch games for kids.
