Best Double Strollers for Your Growing Family
Shop Story

If you’re shopping for a double stroller, you’re likely a parent getting ready to expand your brood or are expecting multiples. Either way, best of luck to you — things are about to get real! If you are expecting a second (or third child), you probably already did a bit of research on the best stroller for your family when you were pregnant with baby number one. But double strollers have many features and options to accommodate a growing family that you’re probably unaware of. If you’re a parent getting ready to welcome multiples (hats off to you!), your choice of a double stroller will be vastly different.

Because they’re an investment, it is crucial to pick the best double stroller for your needs — but where to start? From sit-and-stands to double wides and tandems to double travel system strollers and everything in between, we’ve rounded up our top picks of the different double strollers on the market to help you decide the one that’s right for your family. After all, choosing a double stroller isn’t a one-size-fits-all operation.

Why You Need a Double Stroller

Even if your first child is a bit older, chances are having a stroller that can accommodate all your kids will be crucial. Toddlers who were once excited to walk everywhere may suddenly find their little legs are getting a little tired by the time a baby brother or sister is in the picture. If you have twins, having a double stroller will be more of a necessity. Many double strollers also act as a travel system, which is great for bringing home twins from the hospital in their car seats, and since there’s no such thing as a double baby carrier for infants, getting around town in a double stroller will be your easiest method of transport.

How to Choose the Best Double Stroller for Your Family

There are many factors that come into play when deciding on the best double stroller for your growing family. Among them:

        • Ages of the children

As we mentioned before, this is the main factor that will determine what kind of double stroller you buy. Parents of twins will need a different stroller than parents whose kids have a larger age gap, or even those who have kids closer in age. If you have more than two small children, certain double strollers can even accommodate a third, with an added kickboard in the back. Pay attention to height and weight limits of each double stroller when deciding on one.

        • Your budget

How much are you prepared to spend? Some double strollers are costly, and with extra accessories, they can really add up. Figure out a budget you are comfortable with before doing your research, and definitely make sure to leave a little wiggle room.

        • Stroller size

Double strollers are notorious for being huuuuge! But that’s not to say there aren’t smaller ones, or ones that fold down to an acceptable size. With that said, think about where your stroller will live when it’s not in use — can your house or apartment accommodate a large stroller? Will someone help you carry it up and down stairs?

        • Where you live

Much like the size of the stroller, your living situation and lifestyle will play a big role in the type of stroller that’s best for your family. If you travel a lot, you might want to consider one that’s lightweight and easy to fold. If you live in a city, consider a tandem stroller, so you won’t knock into people on a busy street. If you’re an active outdoorsy type, there’s even a double stroller for that!

        • Extras

Many double strollers have extra functionality to make life with two (or more) kids much easier. If you’re a style snob (that’s OK, we love a pretty stroller too!), that will also come into play. Many strollers offer one-handed folds and all-terrain wheels that will be perfect for your specific needs. But not all do, so think about things that you know are deal breakers or deal makers when it comes to purchasing your double stroller.

With all this in mind, check out our list of the best double strollers to help you with this important decision.

Best All-Around Double Stroller

City Select Double Stroller

Price:$700.00

With 16 configurations, this double stroller is a top pick for growing families. It works as a single or double stroller and can even accommodate a third child by adding a standing board in the back. The City Select Double Stroller can hold two bassinets, two car seats or two toddler seats, and parents have the option of positioning their kids to face forward or backward. A really adorable option is to face kids toward each other, which usually makes for some pretty epic kid conversations!

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 45 lbs. in each seat
Single stroller weighs 30 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
When we found the city select I was immediately taken with all the features and seating options. I love that we could purchase different seat colors. We bought purple for our daughter and black for our new baby boy. I loved it can be both a single stroller or a double within seconds.

There is nothing that baby jogger didn't think of, from the magnets on the canopies (instead of Velcro), to the multi directional/position seats, to the east to use park brake. It is a little wider than a traditional single, but come on... It's a double stroller!

We have a second seat and mostly use it as a double stroller for my 2 and 3 year olds, but occasionally use it as a single as well. I love the versatility of this stroller! It is extremely easy to unfold and assemble, and folds conveniently (with seats separate from the frame) for storage in the trunk of our car.

Best Double Jogging Stroller

BOB Revolution Flex Duallie

Price:$640.00

Just because you have two kids doesn’t mean you can’t leave the house. In fact, with the BOB Revolution Flex Duallie, it’s quite the opposite. Hitting the trails or the beach is a cinch with this stroller that has an adjustable suspension system, making it a smooth ride for your kids on even the toughest terrain. The large canopies offer extra protection from the sun, wind and rain, and also provide large viewing windows so you can easily peak in on the kids without disturbing your jog. The stroller also comes with a wrist strap for an added safety measure.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 50 lbs. in each seat
Single stroller weighs 33 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
Bought this 3 weeks ago and I cannot believe how well it glides. The handlebar wrist strap- yeah use that because this guy glides so easily. My 5 y/o weighs 38lbs. and my 4 month old weighs 15lbs., along with the stroller weight it’s all together is over 80lbs. and I feel like I'm only pushing a single stroller.

It looks great and functions really well. My twins love riding in their BOB. The ride is so smooth, easy to maneuver, and the shocks are superb!

My babies are content when in the stroller and love it that they can sit up right to see what's up ahead. I took it recently on a dirt trail for a quick jog and was surprised at how well the shocks absorbed all the bumps. My babies stayed asleep the whole time.

Best Versatile Double Stroller

Baby Trend Double Jogging Stroller

Price:$180.00

Parents love this stroller for its bicycle tires that make jogging with two kids a breeze. The stroller can accommodate two car seats without the use of an adapter, which is great for getting to and from the park or pediatrician’s office with ease.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 50 lbs. in each seat
Stroller weighs 43 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
The recline on each seat is separately adjustable. If one baby wants to nap, I can push her seat back further than the other. It is also an easy adjustment to make, and it can be done while the baby is still in the seat. There is a jogging safety strap that you can hold onto if you are using the stroller for that.

This is the perfect double stroller for our two boys, ages 2 years & 3 months. Great quality, smooth ride, easy to steer and maneuver. And great price!

I am a mother of two (girls are one and a half years apart), and I wanted a double stroller. It is the smoothest ride your kids can have in a stroller. It was a breeze to put together, too. The front wheel turns (or can stay still) which makes taking turns and just walking in general so easy and so smooth.

Best Double Stroller for Infant and Toddler

Bugaboo Donkey Duo

Price:$1,400.00

Your different-aged kids can sit side by side in this slim double stroller, which is great for pushing down city streets and through narrow doorways. When not used as a double stroller, a side basket can be installed, making things like your bag or phone easily accessible.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 37.5 lbs. in each seat
Stroller weighs 33 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
As a mom of a toddler and newborn I feel compelled to share my love for the Bugaboo Donkey. I was terrified of pushing a double stroller, but this one easily glides and fits through all doorways.

I love my Bugaboo Donkey 2! It's exactly what I was looking for in a convertible stroller. So much storage space without being too bulky. It's also light enough for me to lift in and out of the trunk of my car. It has awesome turn radius which makes getting into elevators and smaller spaces a breeze.

It is a smooth ride and very sturdy. I like the wheels, they mimic real tires. I’m pushing it and not feeling it go over small bumps in the pavement. Our old stroller was very stiff and weak when it compares to the Bugaboo

Best Double Umbrella Stroller

Maclaren Twin Triumph

Price:$325.00

Parents love Maclaren for its lifetime warranty, but you’ll probably never have to use it, as these strollers are built to last. The Maclaren Twin Triumph is a fully padded, double-wide stroller that includes seats that recline independently, with foot supports for added comfort. Even better? It ships fully assembled, so you can just open the box and go once it arrives! You also have the option of purchasing washable seat liners to ensure a (semi) clean stroller.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 55 lbs. each seat
Stroller weighs 21 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
Fits great in between doorways, folds up nicely in one piece and a smooth ride for the kids. it's capable of reclining enough for my newborn as well as holds my 2 or 4yr old. Very great quality material and wheels.

Love this stroller. Bought it for traveling and now I am using it as my everyday stroller. Quick collapse and set up. The seat belts are tricky to get if you don't know to hit the sides of the button but the recline is nice and the expandable sunshades are AWESOME!!! Definitely worth the money!!

This may look like many other cheaper umbrella strollers, & indeed initially i had a dream on me twin stroller for only $80 However the difference lies in the details. It is much better built. It rides better and can be used almost as ones primary means of child transport - we live in hilly terrain & walk long distances so do have an all terrain stroller, but when on holiday it does a great job as our only transport, & we end up never taking the all terrain in the car on any trip.

Best Travel Double Stroller

Chicco Echo Twin Stroller

Price:$190.00

Even though this is an umbrella stroller, it still has tons of features that make life easier with two kids on the go. Each padded seat reclines independently and also has its own leg support. The canopies also have zip-off rear flaps that provide extra protection from the elements. When folded, the Chicco Echo Twin Stroller can be easily transported via carry strap.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 40 lbs. each seat
Stroller weighs 30lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
I specifically bought this stroller to go to Disney, since the one we had is not only huge/bulky, but my twins sit one behind the other. This stroller seemed to be more practical and we now use it more than the other. It serves its purpose and I like the ease of folding it and stowing it away in my car.

Great! Love it! Reclines, lots of options. Easy to push. My twins don't mind being in it. Can actually put things under the seats. Great product. I just wish there were trays available for it. It would make snacking and playing so much easier for them.

My twins like being side-by-side now that they are a bit bigger, as opposed to a stroller where they were in front of each other and could kick each other/not have enough leg room. We have used this for walks in our neighborhood and it's perfect - it's not a jogging stroller, but it works great up and down our very hilly neighborhood.

Best Sit-and-Stand Double Stroller

Graco RoomFor2

Price:$150.00

If your kids are a few years apart a sit and stand is a great option. The Graco RoomFor2 accommodates an infant car seat or a toddler seat, while an older kid can stand or sit on a bench seat in the back. It’s a great option for getting around town with two kids without feeling like you’re driving a tractor trailer. This stroller has a one-handed fold and will stand on its own when closed. It can be used as a single stroller for your younger child too, because of its smaller size.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 50 lbs. each seat.
Stroller weighs 27 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
This stroller is amazing. The footprint is very manageable, it folds up tighter than our single Graco jogging stroller and was very easy to assemble.

Love this stroller. Works great to carry my 3.5yr old and my 5m old. Easy to use. Ride is smooth.

We have a 6 week old and almost three year old and this thing has been a HUGE game changer for when we are out and about. It's much easier to manage both kids when using this stroller. I feel like I don't look like a hot mess like I did when I was pushing around a big, bulky jogging stroller and scrambling to keep my toddler from running around.

Best Functional Double Stroller

Joovy Caboose Ultralight

Price:$280.00

This sit-and-stand stroller is unique because it older kids can not only stand or sit on a bench seat but also have their very own toddler seat, too. Younger kids can ride comfortably up front or in an infant car seat, with an adapter. The front seat also has a footrest that can extend. One of the great aspects of the Joovy Caboose Ultralight is the canopy that extends backward to protect the older child. The custom rain cover will also cover both kids, making this a great stroller for taking on the elements.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 45 lbs. each seat
Stroller weighs 23 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
I was surprised by how spacious and large the two seats are, considering how light and compact the stroller is. My kids are 4.5 and almost 2, and they have plenty of wiggle room. The adjustable straps on each seat are easy to tighten or loosen depending on our needs, and I appreciate that the front footrest can be in an upright or lowered position.

One of my favorite things about this stroller is just how functional it is for two kids. You can use this stroller with an infant car seat, as a sit and stand stroller, or as a double stroller with 2 full seats. Removing/Installing the back seat takes less than 3 minutes, so you can go from sit and stand to full double and then back quickly and easily.

This is the second double stroller I've tried and this one we've kept. It's not at all big and clunky like some others. It's light and minimal, if that's what you're looking for then this stroller is it! I have an 18month old and a newborn and love how my older child has the option to sit for now, then can stand or sit when he's a little older.

Best Double Stroller for Twins

Contours Options Elite Tandem Stroller

Price:$400.00

This is a great option for twins because of how comfortably two children can fit. The stroller accommodates two car seats, and once kids are large enough for the toddler seats, there is enough room for each to sit and look around. Some tandem strollers get knocked for the small space in the rear seat, but not this one. There’ll be no fights as to who sits where with the Contours Tandem Stroller, which is one less thing two worry about. In fact, you can position the seat so that the kids face each other, making for play time on the go.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 40 lbs. each seat
Stroller weighs 34 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
I love this double stroller. I have twins that are 15 months old. I did a lot of research on reviews for new double strollers and wanted something lighter and not as bulky, and something affordable. I've had this stroller for about a month now and use it all the time.

I love this stroller! It definitely is big, feels like a train but I would rather push a longer stroller then a wider stroller and not be able to fit into doors well. It does take a lot of space in my trunk but I drive an SUV so there is plenty of space in my trunk anyways. The bottom basket has so much space to carry a lot and the stroller is easy to maneuver.

I love this stroller! it isn't too heavy at all, I load and unload this thing by myself all the time! It takes up alot of trunk space, but I can still manage. I am only 4'11 and this things rolls so amazingly! It did take me a few months to figure out how to adjust the seats! (The latch is at the top of the seat).

Best Double Stroller for More Than Two Kids

UPPABaby Vista

Price:$1,150.00

This stroller will grow with your family and can hold up to three kids. It comes with a bassinet and toddler seat, so no need to buy those separately. It can also hold two bassinets, two car seats or two toddler seats at the same time! You can add the PiggyBack ride-along board to accommodate an older child, making this the perfect stroller to pack the family onto and get them out the door. One of the best features of the UPPABaby Vista is the large storage basket that can hold up to 30 lbs., making this stroller a true workhorse!

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 20 lbs. in each bassinet and 50 lbs. in each toddler seat
Stroller weighs 28 lbs. as a single stroller

What Reviewers Are Saying:
Hands down worth every penny. It grows with your family, is super easy to use and fold, seats pop in an out at the push of a button (I mean truly at the push of a button!), but sit secure and safe while locked in. It’s so easy to move and virtually glides when pushed.

The basket on the bottom is HUGE and it rolls so smoothly I can control it with one hand. Folding and unfolding it is a breeze. I'm 5' 3" and my husband is 6' 3" and we can both push it comfortably thanks to the adjustable handle.

So many different configurations for a million different scenarios when we are out and traveling. The basket space is HUGE, and is so nice for being out with 2 kids and all the stuff that comes along with them.

Best Double-Wide Stroller

Britax B-Agile Double Stroller

Price:$330.00

This is a super lightweight double-wide stroller and has a quick-fold capability that is offered on many single strollers. It also has an extra-large storage basket that you can access from the front or back of the stroller. The ventilated mesh UV 50+ canopy is great for keeping kids comfortable and protected on long walks. Parents love that the handlebar height can be adjusted to accommodate different caregivers.

Specifications:
Can accommodate kids up to 50 lbs. in each seat
Stroller weighs 26 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
This stroller is a smooth ride and a lightweight stroller that makes being a mom of two easy. The stroller is just skinny enough to fit through the door and just wide enough to give each child their own space. The adjustable handle bar makes strolling comfortable for both mommy and daddy (we can move it easily to the height we want).

I wasn't too sure I would like a side by side stroller, but I love this one! It fits my 2 month old and 2 year old. I like the peek screen at the top and like that the back of the seat has a screen to allow airflow when the seat is reclined. It is so easy to push and turn (actually easier than my single jogger).

This is the lightest side by side stroller we could find. It’s is surprisingly smooth and passes through all standard doors. My daughters 2.5 and 9 months, love being able to see each other and share things. It’s is large though and takes up most of truck in our sedan.

Baby Jogger City Mini Double Stroller

Price:$580.00

This double-wide stroller is large enough to fit two kids side-by-side, but small enough that you won’t find any trouble getting through doorways. Each seat reclines independently, so one kid can nap, while the other takes in the scenery. Parents love that despite its size, the City Mini Double Stroller can easily be pushed with one hand — this thing glides! It’s compatible with all standard Baby Jogger accessories, including the belly bar and the Glider Board.

Specifications:
Can accommodate two kids with a combined weight of 100 lbs.
Stroller weighs 33 lbs.

What Reviewers Are Saying:
An absolute must have for twins!! This stroller fits perfectly through standard size doorways, handles gravel and slightly tough terrain with ease, and has amazingly large sun canopys that blocks the sun from my 3 month old twins faces perfectly!

In love with our City Mini GT double stroller! So easy to push, even one handed! Easy to fold up, unfold. It has a wonderful locking device that automatically attached when folded to a certain degree, which makes it so much easier to just pick up and go. All the features are just so convenient and easy. I did purchase one tray for my toddler, but didn't realize you had to buy the belly bar in order to attach the tray, so I had to purchase that after the fact.

One of the best features as a Mom is knowing your children are covered with an extra long canopy. I also love that they are separate so that my 4 year old doesn’t have to have her canopy over her unless she wants it allowing her to be able to see out better. The wheels are so sturdy and have been through plenty of muddy terrain as well as grass fields, and bumpy roads.
